I am Lorenz and I am a multi-award-winning animator, realtime creative technologist and University lecturer specialized in cartoony animations and visual programming.

ROBOTS OF THE 80s – ELEVATE [music video] (2025)

The music video of the song ELEVATE by Robots of the 80s tells the story of Samanth, who lives in a reality where technology overtakes human labor and people struggle to find a fulfilling purpose. Samantha is the last human working in a big factory, where she communicates with machines to try to comprehend the purpose of life in her reality.

EL VIAJE DEL MÁS ALLÁ (2024)

Short film, 3D-animated. In a magical old Mexican village, a beautiful family celebrates the Day of the Dead. As they dance to Cumba music, they suddenly transform into skeletons, symbolizing an even stronger tie to those who have passed away and live on in their memories. They continue dancing – as magical, colorful Alebrije creatures appear to celebrate with them. Participating artists: Lorenz Foth, Hugo Rivas, Estefanía Carrera, Teresa Gallo, Jaqueline Hernandez and Ana Cristina Quiñones.

NAMELESS ADVENTURES (2023) – AWARD WINNER
Short film, 3D Animation, Individual Project – animating, directing, writing, rigging, VFX, design- Maya, Nuke
In a world with weird gravity, a Flipquip sees his day go from playing basketball to crawling through piles of flipquips and fighting an evil dragon. This work is supported by a fellowship of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).

CÁSATE CONMIGO (2025)

My proposal. A fun and beautiful animated short film using various different techniques to demonstrate love, joy, passion through expressive and entertaining animations. Tells the story of a couple watching “Nesflis”, where they relive memories and experience in different animation styles. The short film uses various 3D and 2D animation techniques. Everything was designed from scratch and is 100% original. Everything was done by Lorenz Foth.

This Robots of the 80’s music video for the song ‘I want to be’ (2023) shows the inner conflict of a humanoid robot, trying to comprehend its nature of existence, distancing itself from humanity to become something different.

SAVE THE DATE (2024)

This is a cartoony, fun and beautiful animated short film telling the story of a fictional couple that is about to get married and preparing their wedding. All information appearing in the video is fake. It was made for a real couple, however. The characters were modeled according to pictures and info on the real couple. Everything was conceptualized, directed, designed, rigged, animated edited and produced by Lorenz Foth. All designs are original and made from scratch, all assets.

This was our SAVE THE DATE “invitation” for my wedding guests, portaying the stress of getting ready for the big day.

TEARDROP (2019)
Realtime Interactive installation, Immersive experience, Museum installation. Authors: Oliver Hamedinger, Jonas Rosenfelder, Lorenz Foth – TouchDesigner, Processing, Projection-mapping, Coding
Teardrop was an interactive projection installation at the Landesmuseum (museum) Ferdinandeum in Innsbruck. The wall projections would interact with the visitors inside the installation room, before disappearing afterwards. The floor projections, however, would trace every visitor’s movements and archive every visitor’s path for any given day. The daily paths generated are quite interesting – especially those for days where the museum was closed – where only one or 2 museum workers strolled through the room.

DESTINO OBSOLETO – [student project] (2025)
Short film, Animation – Instituto Superior de Arquitectura y Diseño de Chihuahua. Supervisor, animator – Maya
Destino obsoleto is a student short film made by 8 talented students of ISAD (Instituto Superior de Arquitectura y Diseño de Chihuahua). It tells the emotional story of a kind-hearted old mouse that survives among the latest high tech equipment, constantly fearing being replaced and separated from its CPU friend. Students: Mafer Marrufo, Ana Cris Quiñones, Jessy Iglesias, Elena Palma, Valeria Chavez, Sebastián Acosta, Paulina Aviles y Karla Escalona. Lorenz’ involvement: Supervisor, mentor and 3D animator. All assets and rigs used in this project are original.

PENCATIS – [student project] (2025)
Short film, Animation – Instituto Superior de Arquitectura y Diseño de Chihuahua. Supervisor, animator – Blender & traditional 2D Animation
Pencatis is a student short film made by 14 talented students of ISAD (Instituto Superior de Arquitectura y Diseño de Chihuahua) with the assistance of their mentors Luis Uranga, Luis Ivan Nuñez and Lorenz Foth. The short film tells the story of the life of a Zenzontle bird in the desert of Chihuahua who transitions between the real and spiritual realms, connecting with the marine past of the desert. Lorenz’ involvement: Supervisor, mentor and 3D animator. All assets and rigs used in this project are original.

COMPOS[T]ING (2024)
Role: Technical Designer, Touchdesigner Animation Artist. Realtime animation video installation. Museum Installation. Project by Ingrid Mayrhofer-Hufnagl. Exhibited at the Art Center for Digital Cultures & Technology in Brussels (start: May 2024). – TouchDesigner, AI, Point clouds, Python
The digital part of the art & technology project ‘Compos[t]ing’ is a pointcloud animation of organic behaviour of soil. The pointclouds were programmed in Python to be able to morph shapes and textures and cameras and effects were further animated and added via TouchDesigner and Python. Each point behaves according to the changes of soil data collected between 2009 and 2018 across Europe. Lorenz Foth was responsible for all the technical work in TouchDesigner and Python. There is a physical sculpture counterpart of the project located in the Parc du Cinquantenaire in Brussels in summer of 2024. The sculpture also appears as a versatile point cloud in the video installation.

LA LOTERÍA ANIMADA – [student project] (2024)
Animation installation – Instituto Superior de Arquitectura y Diseño de Chihuahua. Supervisor, director, animator – Maya
Animation Installation, projection. This is a project of the university ISAD (Instituto Superior de Arquitectura y Diseño de Chihuahua) in Chihuahua, Mexico. It was exhibited as a big façade projection at the event of the day of the dead of the university on October 31st 2024. It is an animation project created by 15 talented Animation students and their lecturer Lorenz Foth. The learning purpose of the project was to understand and learn to use Autodesk Maya for a fun and beautiful project. Lorenz Foth’s involvement: teacher, director, supervisor, animator of intro and credits.

GRIMACE STUDIOS (2022)

Grimace Studios was a short-term Film Studio for experimental footage, both physical and digital – and both at once. The Studio makes use of STAEUBLI robotic arms for both camera and set motion. It seeks to play with different techniques of morphing and switching between physical and digital footage. This work was supported by a fellowship of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).

DEUS EX MA(S)CHINA (2020) – AWARD WINNER

Deus ex Ma(s)china is a series of 2D animated short films that was physically and virtually exhibited in the University of Innsbruck. The short films envision a future of automation in which humans can turn to a life of play and creativity.

Cart sharing is an experimental animated film created in game engine that serves as speculative design for the performance space of a music festival in Innsbruck, Austria.

Charlie is an alien with a very unique superpower. His inductive thoughts become real.

CONNECTED (2022)

Digital Painting showing the connectiveness of beings with each other and their habitat. Connections may not always be evident, but they are there to provide strength and hope.
